 | Mrs. Rachel Townsley In Buckland, Feb. 11, Mrs. Rachel Townsley, wife of Mr. Dan Townsley aged 84. By this afflicting dispensation of Divine Providence, a bereaved husband with whom aha has lived for nearly 61 years and her children, have been called to part with a most valuable and endeared friend. For nearly 60 years she has been a member of a Congregational Church, and all the while she has maintained a consistent Christian character. Her piety was of the practical kind, keeping her humble in prosperity, supporting her in adversity, and causing her to constantly keep in view, the realities of a future world. During an illness of 8 weeks, not a murmur escaped her lips, but all things, she felt, were right and ordered in goodness and mercy — 'Not my will, oh God, but thine be done,’ was the prevailing sentiment of her heart. Her reason continued unimpaired to the last. She had no fear whatever of death, but desired whenever her Father should order it that her appointed time might come, to depart and be at rest. And when the hour arrived that she should tread the valley of death, she filtered not The rod and the staff of her Redeemer, were both her support and consolation.
'Her God sustained her in her final hour,' and after bidding farewell to her friends and commending them to the grace of God, she laid her head upon her Savior's bosom and 'breathed her life out sweetly there.’
'The pains of death are past,
Labor and sorrow cease,
And life’s long warfare closed at last,
Her soul now rests in peace.'

 | Mrs. Ross Craig Passes After Long Illness Mrs. Ross Craig Passes After Long Illness
One of the largest funerals to be held in the United Church for many years was that of Mrs. Ross Craig who died on Thursday, March 17 at the Shail Nursing Home, following 26 years of ill health. She was in her 55th year. Born on a farm on the Clayton Road, Ramsay Township in 1905, Annie May Reid was a daughter of the late John R. Reid and his wife, Margaret McKay of Middleville. She was educated at the rural school, Almonte High School and in 1925 graduated from Kemptville Agricultural School. In 1926 she married Mr. Allan Ross Craig, one of the well known farmers of this district and went to live with him on the 11th line of Ramsay. In addition to her husband she is survived by her mother who has lived in Almonte for a good many years, and by three daughters: Dorothy (Mrs. Lyle Reid) Almonte; Jean (Mrs. Keith Willows) Innisville and Miss Lois, in Ottawa. There are also two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Kemp and Mrs. Stuart Whyte of Ramsayville; two grandchildren, Shirley and Barry Willows. One brother, Robert, died in childhood. Mrs. Craig was stricken with an illness 26 years ago that eventually made her an invalid confined to a wheel chair. She spent the last three years of her life in a nursing home. But in spite of being confined to her home and the pain she suffered she was always remarkably bright and cheerful; so much so that people enjoyed visiting her.

Mrs. Jecks will be remembered as a kind and loving wife and mother, and a true friend and neighbor. Mr. and Mrs. Jecks had toiled hard to have a comfortable home, and only recently had they moved into their new house fitted with modern conveniences in which Mrs. Jecks took much pride and comfort, but in the very beginning of the enjoyment of it the death messenger called her away, leaving the home desolate, with a heart-broken husband and sorrowing children.
